Daniel Jefferson Blunt, 69, of Longwood, Florida, left us peacefully on October 15, 2024 after fighting a year-long battle with Esophageal Cancer. A beloved husband, father, and grandfather “Opa”, Dan will always be remembered for his quick whit, cheerful demeanor, and willingness to pitch in and help anyone in need.
Born on July 23, 1955, in Springfield, Missouri, Dan grew up the youngest son of Winton Olin Blunt and Wanda June Blunt, and brother of Stephen Dale Blunt. Dan grew up in Hermitage, Missouri, and later Boliver, Missouri, graduating from Boliver High School in 1973. He then went on to serve the United States Navy from 1974 through 1979 as a CTO2 in Honolulu, Hawaii. It was here that he had some of his fondest memories of serving his country and enjoying his bachelorhood.
Dan then went on to begin his career in computer engineering. He made many cherished lifelong friendships through his 40-year career with his time at Systeme Corp, MPI Inc./Harland, CCMC Inc., Metavante, Fiserv, and finally FIS, before his retirement in 2019.
On January 22, 1983 in Houston, Texas, Dan married the love of his life and devoted partner, Patricia “Patti” McNeil Blunt. The two shared a joyous marriage for over 41 years, which yielded their daughter, Mary, and two grandchildren, Logan and Adaline. Other than his family, Dan’s passions included woodworking, cooking (but known to never follow a recipe!) , and helping others. Dan was a devout member of the church community at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection in Longwood, Florida.
Dan is survived by his wife, Patricia (Patti) Blunt; and daughter, Mary Blunt Welsh; as well as his son-in-law, Glen Welsh; and grandchildren, Logan and Adaline Welsh. He was preceded in death by his father, Winton Olin Blunt; his mother, Wanda June Blunt; and his brother, Stephen Dale Blunt.
Services will be held on Friday, November 1, 2024 at 3:00pm at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, 251 East Lake Brantley Drive, Longwood, Florida.
Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers for Dan and the Blunt-Welsh families.

Dear Patti/Mary,
I am so sorry for your loss. He was a gentleman. I remember when he made the pen for me and y’all dropped it off when you were in Houston. That was a very nice story about him.
My love from Houston,
Louann
