Donald Wayne Fair, born 11/8/38, in Henning TN, retired drywall finisher, mother Anna Mae Ballard, father Lee Fair
Don was a wonderful, warm loving and proud father of three terrific beautiful and smart daughters: Diane and Paul Kempf of Tulsa Oklahoma, Donette and David Embaugh of Sunbury, Ohio and Debbie and Jack Long of Charleston South Carolina. And our son, Jake Haught of Charleston, West Virginia, who was lost from us for many years, who we went and found and got to know and love. My son, Don’s stepson, Lou Williams of Belpre, Ohio, who loved and admired him for all his wonderful easy ways and all the laughter he always brought when he was around. Don also loved and was proud of all his grand children and great grandchildren and they loved him too.
From a young age, Don loved to be in the outdoors fishing, hunting and just enjoying nature and all it had to offer. He belonged to a black powder gun club who dressed in primitive style clothes at there gun shoots. He made his own buck skin clothes, deer antler handled knife, Indian style beaded possible bag and even made his own black powder gun, which he won many metals and primitive style items for his lean pee and we always had turkeys and hams he had won. He fished as much as he could whenever he had time. We spent many a day on the water crappy fishing. We loved eating crappy and hush puppies. What ever he did he did it to the best of his ability and it always tuned out perfect.
Donnie, as I called him, was a tall, suntan, handsome fella who had such a great smile. I fell in love with him on our first date and fell in love with him over and over again every time I looked at his beautiful body god gave him. Every time I heard his warm manly voice and every time I saw his wonderful funny magnetic personality. Everyone, men, women, rich or poor, white or black, no matter what religion, he liked all people and when they met him they knew right away he was a very special person and just really enjoyed hanging out with him. He made everyone laugh and he made their day a little better when he was around. I am so very very thankful that he loved me and I got to spend 37 wonderful years with him. He will be dearly missed by all of us who knew and loved him. He is with god now. No doubt in my mind about that and this is how I know. I had the radio on a country western station for him and as he took his last breaths, a song came on and his daughter and I both heard these words:
I MET GOD TODAY!
A date, time and place for a memorial service will be posted with in the week.
